About Us

Sanctuary PhotoWe worship in a Gothic cathedral arising from the plains of Oklahoma. Some of us are descendants of the original founders and others of us have come to Wesley from as far away as Cambodia and Uganda. We are college students and young families; empty nesters and busy seniors; youth and children; thinkers and doers! We are volunteers in missions and drivers for mobile meals. We serve in Bolivia and Liberia, Kenya and Cookson, Skyline and Youth Force. We are musicians, artists, painters and dancers. We are marvelous cooks, careful stewards and families of all sizes and configurations. We are people who find fellowship, who learn, who worship. Under-girding all of who we are and all of what we do is the unshakable conviction that we are beloved children of God.

We are thankful for the strong foundation on Which we stand. We are thankful for the  men and women who planted the seeds for this church and for those who have tended this community of faith throughout our century of service. We are blessed with a congregation who continues the work that others began.

We are also asking what God is calling Wesley to do next! Our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ is the same as it in 1910. However, society has changed, our city has changed, our neighborhood has changed. We are called to ask how God is calling Wesley to change.

We honor those who began this church 100 years ago. Now it is our turn. The people of this community of faith are the rock on which our next 100 years will be built. Thanks be to God for God’s call in our lives. With God’s help, we will be faithful.

In 2014, the church began a process of radical re-invention to learn how it can respond to its opportunities to minister to those around it. The church adopted values to help guide it in this process of change. We seek to share radical hospitality. We seek to share passionate worship. We seek to intentionally develop our spiritual life.  We seek to take on risky service and mission to achieve the goal of discipleship. We seek to become extravagantly generous in giving, living, and loving.

Come join us on this journey.
